We had a fun wedding photography shoot with Amy and Jonanthan on their wedding day at the Vogue Ballroom Melbourne. It is also our first time vlogging a wedding day behind scene video on a photographer/videographer’s perspective. As in real life, the majority of us don’t get in front of the camera that often, we always think wedding day photography a painful and awkward process. So, with this vlog, we believe this is the perfect opportunity to show couples how relaxing and fun it can be.
Before their wedding, Amy and Jonothan had a meeting with us discussed they would like their ceremony to be held at the Royal Botanical Garden and reception to be held at the Vogue Ballroom in Burwood East, Melbourne. And in the morning, they would like their getting ready shots to be taken at each other’s house.
On the day, we started the getting ready shot with the boys first. When we arrive, first thing we do is to have a look around to find out which room has the best lighting for the portraits later. Then we gather the groom’s accessories for some detail shots while the boys finishing their shower. We will also capture some candid moments such as people’s interactions within the house. After the detail shots, we let the boys to get changed while we constantly keep out camera shutter flicking. Generally, we don’t give much directions unless necessary as the boys can naturally make fun things happen. After they get changed, we guided Jonathan into his bedroom for some groom portraiture. At this stage, for the best results we will give some direction to our groom on such as his stance, which way he should be facing as well as what should he put his hands. After that, we can gather all the groomsmen as well as the family members for some group shot.
Then we come to the girl’s house which is relatively close to the groom’s place. Soon as we arrived, we noticed the master bedroom of our bride’s parents: large room with diagonal celling window well as plenty of the lighting coming through, we instantly decided this will be the room for the photos. As our bride still had some make-up to be touched on, we started some detail shots with her jewelries first. After the girls finished with their make-up, we took them out outside of house on the lawn to have some champagne shots. The girls had plenty of fun while we captured lots of candid moments and laughers. After this, we asked the bridesmaids to hop in the dress and then help out bride to jump in her dress. I have to say the ballgown really went really well with our bride.
After all the portraitures with out brides and finishing all the family photos, we headed for the ceremony. The ceremony was held at the back garden of the Royal Botanical Garden. Just behind the two-story historical building, it is a perfect place for a intimate wedding ceremony.
The ceremony went really smoothly and after they were officially married, we grab all people present for a fun big group shot. Followed by the group shot, we proceeded to do some more family photos, where now two families become one. Then we took the bridal party to the garden as well as the building for some wedding photography.
Just before we head to the reception, the couple mentioned they would some more location photos to be done on the bridge near the Yarra River. When we went there, we also notice there are a beautiful lawn with tall trees on both sides. So we quickly did some candid walking shots with the bridal party and also some portraits for the couple.
At around 5;30pm, we arrived at the Vogue Ballroom. Located in Burwood East, they are known as one of the most luxurious wedding receptions in Melbourne. The French wall together with large crystal chandeliers is just breathtaking.
Thank you Amy and Jonothan for having us with your wedding photography. We hope this vlog can show the marrying couple in Melbourne who’s looking to do wedding photography actually how fun and relaxing the wedding day shoot can be. With a professional approach but yet still giving out minimum poses for the couples, we can capture some really beautiful and candid moments.
