Today, you are going to get some in-depth insights and visions for wedding ceremony locations in Melbourne.
When we organized the conversations with the couples, quite a few of them ask our suggestions for wedding ceremony locations. We then realize heaps of couples book their wedding photographer before the wedding ceremony venue.
Below are some superb wedding ceremony locations in our visions. Besides the photography advantages of these sites, we will also cover other perspectives such as the permit, the fees, the weather, the traffic and etc.
Hope this information we shared could smooth your wedding planning a bit. Let’s get started.
Melbourne is a city known as the garden city. We have picked some of the most beautiful gardens in Melbourne and its inner suburbs for your wedding ceremony location choice.
Located On North of Melbourne City CBD, Carlton Gardens is one of the most popular and classical places when Melbourne people thinking about the outdoor garden weddings. Lawn 15 is my recommended place. At here, you could set the fountain and Royal Exhibition Building as the backdrop for your wedding ceremony and tie the knot between the tree lines. The perfect symmetrical balance is golden for wedding photography.
After the wedding ceremony, you could also take the opportunity to capture the bridal party photos in other lawns or places of the Carlton Gardens.

When you prefer a bit alternations to tie the knot in a garden around Melbourne City, Fitzroy Gardens is another perfect options. To stand out compared to other gardens weddings ceremony locations, Fitzroy Garden could provide both the outdoor and indoor options.
For the outdoor garden weddings, Lawn 9 with the Old Bandstand, Lawn 11 with the Dolphin Fountain are my recommendations. When you choose to get married in the wet season and still prefer some garden look, the conservatory could be one of your perfect garden wedding choices.
Lawn 9 with the Old bandstand needs an early application for the busy wedding season as it is a quite popular option for brides. When you organize a summer afternoon wedding ceremony, you could choose the side of Grey Street Fountain as there is more shade here. When you have a bit long guest list for the wedding ceremony, then choose the playground side could give you more space.
Lawn 11 with the Dolphin Fountain offer a better landscape option. The lush green native backdrop, the old elm trees, the paved pathway and the fountain itself deliver a variety of background to your wedding ceremony.

When we talking about the Royal Botanical Gardens, sometimes we may get a bit confused. There are actually quite a few gardens inside the circle of the St Kilda Road, Domain Road and Alexandra Ave. From north to the south, there are Alexandra Gardens, Queen Victoria Gardens, Kings Domain, Royal Botanical Gardens and Kings Domain South.
For the wedding ceremony, only the Queen Victoria Gardens, Kings Domain and the Royal Botanical Garden could be hired. Moreover, you need to go through different organizations to apply for the permit and pay the bill.
For Queen Victoria Gardens and Kings Domain, they belong to Melbourne City. So as the same as Carlton Gardens and Fitzroy Gardens, you need to apply for the permit and pay the fees to Melbourne City Council.
Among all the possible wedding ceremony places in these two gardens, my preferred choice is the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Garden, Lawn 7 with the Stapley Pavilion and Lawn 8 with the Janet Lady Clarke Rotunda.
The Pioneer Women’s Memorial Garden offers a quiet and private environment with the surrounded hedge. Plus, the small tranquil pond and the blue-tiled grotto will provide a perfect backdrop. For the Lawn 7 with Stapley Pavilion and the Lawn 8 with Janet Lady Clarke Rotunda, they could accommodate an intimate wedding ceremony inside, so you don’t have to worry about possible rain on your wedding day.

Set on St Kilda – Melbourne’s inner south suburb, St Kilda Botanical Gardens has some extraordinary views as the wedding ceremony backdrop. The palm-lined path, the ornamental pond, the sub-tropical rain forest conservatory are just a few of them.
Among all the places inside the St Kilda Botanical Gardens, the Rose Garden Rotunda is the most popular and scenic place for a wedding ceremony in my experience.

When you prefer to organize a wedding ceremony inside a civil function room rather than the churches, below are some superb places available from a wedding photographer’s perspective.
When you ask me to recommend a place for Non-Religious wedding ceremony in Melbourne, the Dome located on 333 Collins St in Melbourne City is my favourite one. The elegance and grandeur here make the Dome an extraordinary place for an epic and romantic wedding. The Italianate arches, the tiled mosaic floor and the clerestory windows that scintillates light throughout the structure are all working perfectly with the wedding photography during your ceremony.

You have the choice to choose your final location from the Upper Galley, Blue Stone Chapel or any outdoor locations in Montsalvat’s 12 acres ground and garden. Glasshaus is a designer nursery with two retail locations, called Glasshaus Inside, in Cremorne and Glasshaus Outside, in Richmond, respectively. Although they can both be operated during the day and night, Glasshaus Outside is a more ideal day time event place and Glasshaus Inside is more sort of a wedding reception.
Both these two places styled with plenty of plants draping from the walls. The Industrial Chic decors, the botanical splendours and natural lighting dropped from the ceiling make this place an impeccable place to hold your wedding ceremony. I wouldn’t suggest you spend any extra on the decorations here as it is already an extraordinary location for a wedding event.

When you prefer to organize your beach wedding ceremony at a place with the capability of DIY spirit, then the public beaches at Port Philip City are my recommendations. On the west side of Beaconsfield Parade and Jacka Boulevard, there are quite a few beach locations for you to choose. The Catani Gardens, the Point Ormond, Elwood Beach, St Kilda Beach, Middle Park Beach and Port Melbourne Beach.
As a wedding photographer who regularly captured the weddings at these beaches, I would choose the Beach in front of the Port Melbourne Band Rotunda as my favourite beach wedding ceremony locations in Melbourne. The beautiful city view and the Spirit of Tasmania are both unique backdrop. After the wedding ceremony, it is also very close to some of the most popular beach wedding photo locations, like the Princes pier and Lagoon Pier. When you prefer to have a beach themed wedding around Melbourne, the beach here probably fit you the best.
